This season’s Opening Night marks a historic production for the Metropolitan Opera-- the first production by a Black composer, Terance Blanchard’s Fire Shut up My Bones. This new production, featuring musical monologues, gospel choruses, and unpredictable melodies, will be conducted by Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Join Joanne Lessner as she shares insights into this tale of sexual identity and masculinity in a story about overcoming trauma and hardship.
